The Program Support Assistant works under the direction of licensed therapists and case managers to support daily programming and activities for youth in a therapeutic setting. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of group sessions, outings, and other structured programming. The position includes responsibilities such as basic housekeeping, supervision during outings, parent communication, and assisting with recreational planning. This role does not involve clinical documentation or organizing formal treatment meetings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist clinical staff during structured group sessions, community outings, field trips, and daily programming.
Escort and supervise youth during trips and recreational activities, ensuring safety and engagement.
Support planning and facilitation of games, arts & crafts, sports, music, gardening, and other recreational or therapeutic activities.
Provide assistance with basic housekeeping and activity cleanup as needed.
Communicate with parents/guardians when directed by supervising staff.
Ensure safety and monitor appropriate behavior in group and individual settings.
Support staff in preparing for and transitioning between scheduled program components.
Maintain a respectful, positive, and professional attitude when interacting with clients and staff.
Maintain confidentiality of all client-related information.
Report concerns about client safety or behavior to the supervising provider.
Attend required training, in-service sessions, and team meetings as scheduled.
Performs all job duties in a manner that is friendly, respectful and aligned with the agency’s Mission, Values, Patient Care Philosophy, and Standards of Ethical Conduct.
All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience in a behavioral health, school, recreational, or healthcare setting preferred but not required.
Must complete First Aid, CPR, and De-escalation training within 90 days of hire.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Must pass background checks as required by state and organizational standards.
