Job Description - Programming Manager


The Programming Manager is an integral part of the Long Center team, advancing shows and day-of show execution, overseeing rental bookings in Rollins Studio Theatre, and strengthening relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This role is responsible for managing programmed events, monitoring performances, and supporting community programming while ensuring alignment with the Long Center’s mission, brand, and overall programming vision. This role will coordinate the execution of shows and events as assigned, managing and executing artist requirements with internal departments while serving as the on-site liaison for clients during performances. This position requires superior attention to detail and excellent cross-functional communication, along with a passion for live arts, entertainment, and the local music scene.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for rental bookings in Rollins Studio Theatre; from initial call through settlement.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Programming on presented and owned event booking across the Long Center, including The Drop-In and Teresa Lozano Long Community Day.
  • Responsible for redlining incoming contracts, coordinating deposits and balance of guarantee payments; creating and sending invoices, check requests, ACH payments, and other forms of payment related to Artist needs, under the Direction of Director of Programming.
  • Supports the advancement of Long Center Presented shows and other programmed events, communicating cross-functionally with external clients and internal teams.
  • Manages artists and client deliverables across departments, creating efficiencies for smooth delivery of events and shows.
  • Responsible for coordinating artist services; confirming and scheduling transportation, catering, hospitality, and travel arrangements.
  • Responsible for gathering day-of-show information regarding FOH policies, merchandise sales, artist guest lists, meet & greets, VIP events, etc.
  • Serves as or arranges for runners and event services support in coordination with the artist and Programming/Production/Event Operations teams.
  • Provides budget estimates, tracking, reporting, and settlement for programming expenses.
  • Maintains up-to-date information in internal databases including Momentus and Tessitura.
  • Interfaces with all levels of the organization and engages with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders in an effective and diplomatic manner.
  • Manages multiple competing priorities at once, always maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
  • Assists with other programming, event, and organizational needs as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field and 3+ years of relevant work in programming, live event management, booking, and/or project management; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Passion for nonprofit, performing arts and live entertainment, with a specific interest in advancing the Long Center’s Mission.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other modern computer applications.
  • Self-motivated and extremely organized.
  • Excellent written communication skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & BENEFITS

This flexible role is expected to regularly report to work onsite at the Long Center with a variable schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
