A Day in the Life of a Project Accountant

You are at the forefront for the financial management and health of multiple projects. This includes: monitoring project performance by reviewing budgets and forecasting potential overruns, creating and maintaining project accounts in the accounting system using established procedures, maintaining work-in-process folders and files for all projects, setting up and closing out projects in the ERP system, assisting project managers with billing issues, reconciling receipts and budgets and communicating with the project manager as required, preparing invoices, analyses of performance, compiling information for internal and external auditors and contributing to staff trainings.

Work Schedule for a Project Accountant:

This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home Mondays and Fridays.

Toole Design’s Minneapolis office is conveniently located downtown at 212 3rd Avenue N, near to the Mississippi River and Cedar Lake bike trail systems and walking distance from Metro Blue, Green, Orange, and C line Stations. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.

Located in the North Loop neighborhood in the historic Colonial Warehouse building, the office is inside the former headquarters of the city’s streetcar company. Our windows overlook the Cedar Lake Trail which most of our staff use to bike to work each day, sometimes with a canine in tow (our building is dog-friendly). You will also find Minneapolis staff conducting “walking meetings” to the nearby Mississippi River, taking transit nearly anywhere in the region, or hopping on bike share to attend meetings. We are targeting a salary range of $70,000.00-$78,000.00 for this position.

Requirements

Qualifications of a Project Accountant:

• A bachelors’ degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent relevant experience
• Five to seven years of Project Accounting experience
• Experience assisting in producing accurate and timely financial statements
• Proficiency in Deltek Vanatagepoint or Vision or other job cost accounting software
• Competency in reading/reviewing contracts
