Project Accountant

Description

Position Overview: The Project Accountant plays a key role in managing all billing activities—both incoming and outgoing—related to specific projects. This role also supports various job cost functions and reporting needs within the accounting department. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in construction project accounting. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and code invoices for project-related expenses
• Manage subcontractor billing and ensure timely processing
• Maintain subcontract documentation, including lien releases
• Prepare and submit draw requests, including all required supporting documentation (e.g., schedules, invoice copies)
• Assist in internal and external job audits
• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
• Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Office applications
• High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Familiarity with AIA billing formats and documentation
• Experience with Vista Viewpoint or similar construction accounting software preferred
• Previous project accounting experience preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in accounting, preferably within the construction industry
