Position Overview
As a Project Accountant, you’ll work closely with Project Managers, Field Leaders, and the Accounting Department to ensure accuracy in labor tracking, billing, and job costing. Your work will help keep projects financially aligned with forecasts and milestones while supporting timely and accurate reporting across teams.
Key Responsibilities
Time Entry & Scheduling Oversight
Review and approve time entries for residential projects to ensure accuracy and budget alignment.
Communicate with Project Engineers or Project Managers to flag scheduling issues during audits.
Notify Production promptly when time entries are delayed to ensure billing remains on track.
Billing, Invoicing & Project Auditing
Prepare and submit Time & Material (T&M) and progress billings aligned with contractual terms.
Execute our internal job audit process to track and validate costs, with regular financial reviews.
Generate detailed job costing reports, analyze data, and flag risks like overruns or discrepancies.
Change Order Processing
Review, document, and update financial systems to reflect accurate change order data.
Ensure all change orders are properly approved and integrated into budgets and invoices.
Partner with Project Managers to validate scope, cost impact, and timeline implications.
Financial Oversight
Monitor project budgets closely, tracking labor and material expenses against estimates.
Proactively escalate potential risks or issues to Project Managers and leadership
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Provide field and office teams with clear financial reports that inform real-time decisions.
Work seamlessly with the Accounting team to align project financials with company reporting cycles.
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain accurate, organized records of all project financial activity.
Ensure documentation complies with internal policies, contract terms, and regulations.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in construction or project accounting
Strong understanding of job costing, labor reporting, and AIA billing
Exceptional attention to detail and time management
Excellent communication skills across field, project, and accounting teams
Proficiency with accounting and project management tools (QuickBooks, Acumatica, Excel)
A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability cultur
Work Schedule
Full-time, Monday–Friday Flexibility may be required depending on project billing cycles and deadlines
