Job Description - Project Control Specialist - Urgent Hire

SUMMARY:

Processes project financial information for the Engineering Department into the Commission’s Accounting System (MUNIS). Work is performed in coordination with the Engineering Department’s Capital Program Coordinator, but subject to review by a professional superior for program effectiveness and conformance with established goals, objectives and policies that improve the efficiency of Commission assigned projects and programs.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and ABILITIES:

Bachelor’s degree in a field such as business administration, finance, engineering, construction management or project management and three (3) to five (5) years project controls related experience. Experience should include the necessary financial, communication and organizational skills necessary to work with engineering department project managers and other departments within the organization. Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite is desirable. Knowledge of working in an enterprise resource management system is desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinates with Accounting, Purchasing and Capital Program Coordinator to establish Project Financial Set up and Year-end Closeout.
  • Tracks Project Costs, Modifications, Change Orders and Task Order Assignments from inception to closeout.
  • Tracks and processes Consultant’s and Attorney Invoices and Contractor Pay Estimates so they are paid in a timely manner.
  • Monitors Project Progress and coordinates with Project Managers to close out completed contracts.
  • Coordinates the Project Accounting Information with Engineering Department’s Capital Program Coordinator.
  • Coordinates Project Accounting Information with the Commission’s Accounting Department.

  • This job has no supervisory duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in a field such as business administration, finance, engineering, construction management or project management and three (3) to five (5) years project controls related experience. Experience should include the necessary financial, communication and organizational skills necessary to work with engineering department project managers and other departments within the organization. Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite is desirable. Knowledge of working in an enterprise resource management system is desirable.
