A leading national commercial general contractor is seeking a Project Controls Manager to support its Atlanta regional operations. This individual will be responsible for administering project controls practices, operational systems, and performance standards across multiple construction projects.
The Project Controls Manager will partner with regional leadership, project executives, project managers, and project accounting teams to improve operational consistency, financial performance, forecasting, and compliance. This role is ideal for a construction professional who combines strong financial acumen with project management systems expertise, analytical ability, and a passion for training and supporting project teams.
This is not solely a scheduling position. The role has a broader regional focus that includes job-cost controls, billing forecasts, change management, system administration, KPI monitoring, operational training, and project performance reviews.
Lead the onboarding and systems training process for regional operations personnel.
Provide ongoing training and support to help project teams operate according to established company standards.
Serve as an operational resource to Project Directors, Project Managers, and other project team members.
Monitor key performance indicators across the region’s project management systems.
Administer project management platforms and maintain regional software standards.
Analyze system performance, identify operational issues, and develop practical solutions.
Assist project teams with general conditions management, cash-flow tracking, scheduling standards, and project forecasting.
Participate in monthly project status reviews and identify areas of operational or financial risk.
Review and approve project job-cost budgets within the region.
Support regional project performance reviews.
Partner with Project Accountants and Project Managers to create and monitor billing forecasts.
Assist project teams with change management, cost controls, and financial reporting.
Support the evaluation and potential implementation of new construction technology and software.
Promote operational consistency and continuous improvement across regional project teams.
Demonstrate the organization’s guiding principles and professional standards in all interactions.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
At least eight years of experience within the construction industry.
Experience with a commercial general contractor is strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of construction financials, including job-cost budgets, billing, forecasting, general conditions, cash flow, and change management.
Experience using and administering construction project management systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Comfortable interpreting project data and identifying operational or financial trends.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and support project teams.
Effective working independently and collaboratively across multiple departments.
Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and construction management software.
General understanding of commercial construction delivery methods.
