Job Description - Project Coordinator

FLSA Status:


Non-Exempt



 


 


Position Summary


The Project Coordinator, Upward Bound is responsible for providing comprehensive counseling and support services to high school students, facilitating their successful transition to postsecondary education through academic guidance, campus visits, and admissions assistance.



Essential Job Duties



  • Provide personal, social, and academic counseling to program participants.

  • Deliver financial aid information and guidance to support educational access.

  • Organize and coordinate campus visits to various postsecondary institutions.

  • Assist students with college admissions processes and application materials.

  • Coordinate financial aid applications and secure admission fee waivers.

  • Plan and implement motivational and educational enrichment activities.

  • Conduct recruitment activities at designated schools to identify qualifying participants.

  • Facilitate workshops focused on career advancement and personal development.

  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.

Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Education with 1-2 years of experience

  • Experience working with high school students and college admissions processes

  • Knowledge of financial aid programs and application procedures

  • Experience in event planning and program coordination preferred



Licenses/Certifications



  • Valid driver's license

    • Strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and educational partners

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present information clearly and effectively

    • Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate multiple events and activities simultaneously

    • Strong understanding of college admissions processes and financial aid requirements

    • Ability to work independently while maintaining program objectives and deadlines

    • Proven skills in motivating and mentoring students

    • Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example

    • Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community

    • Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible

    • Ability to communicate in a courteous manner




    Physical Demands

    Constantly required to remain in a seated position for extended periods


    Frequently required to communicate effectively with diverse populations


    Regularly performs tasks that involve repetitive wrist and finger movement


    Regularly operates a computer and other standard office equipment


    Occasionally required to move about the office and similar spaces


     


    Work Environment


    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


    The work environment is primarily a quiet office setting with moderate noise levels. The position requires frequent travel to designated schools, which involves extended periods of driving and visits to various educational institutions.
