As a Project Cost Controller, you will play a key role in managing project budgets, monitoring costs, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. You will work closely with engineers, contractors, vendors, and permitting teams to provide timely updates and support effective decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage project budgets, tracking actual costs against forecasts.
Contact contractors and vendors to collect accruals, forecasts, and other financial data.
Liaise with engineers, contractors, vendors, and permitting teams to incorporate key updates into the project schedule.
Monitor project costs, identifying potential risks and recommending cost-saving measures.
Review and validate contractor invoices, ensuring alignment with contracts and project progress.
Prepare and present accurate financial reports to project management and stakeholders.
Support project teams in forecasting and planning exercises to maintain budget control.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure cost data supports timely decision-making.

Proven experience as a Project Cost Controller, Cost Engineer, or similar role in industrial, mining, construction, or oil & gas projects.
Strong knowledge of project budgeting, cost control processes, and financial reporting.
Experience liaising with contractors, vendors, engineers, and permitting teams.
Proficiency with project management and financial software (e.g., MS Project, Excel, ERP systems).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with project stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, dynamic project environments.
Post-secondary education in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CCCA, or project controls training) are an asset.
