Job Description - Project Engineer

JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Embody integrity, accountability, initiative, and respect.
Design compressor stations and gas plant enhancements:
Develop process simulations using ProMax software.
Spec mechanical equipment, including compressors, dehydrators, separators, tanks, air coolers, pumps, heat exchangers, and treaters.
Spec piping materials, diameters, and thicknesses.
Spec instrumentation and valves, including relief devices, control valves, regulators, meters, transmitters, and switches.
Develop piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's) and plot plans.
Assist drafting/design and construction with developing 3D models, piping, and civil/structural designs.
Develop controls narratives and cause & effect matrices.
Collaborate with construction to develop scope of work/for-bid packages for construction and commissioning activities:
Communicate effectively with internal and external team members (including construction, safety, environmental, operations, commercial, land/ROW, 3rd party contractors, etc.)
Track/forecast costs and milestone schedules and regularly communicate progress to project stakeholders
Manage projects through the entire project lifecycle, including: develop feasibility studies and cost estimates; submit AFE's; perform detailed engineering and design; generate as-built drawings; and participate in pre-startup safety reviews.
Provide troubleshooting, optimization, and compliance support to operations, including Process Safety Management (PSM) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations:
Possess fundamental knowledge of midstream gas gathering and processing operations, including pig liquids handling, compression, glycol and desiccant dehydration, treating, hydrocarbon recovery, and condensate stabilization.
Possess knowledge of codes, standards, regulations, and best practices applicable to the midstream industry (including API, ASME B31.3/4/8 and VIII, DOT 192/5, NFPA, etc.)
Proactively identify and implement enhancements to optimize safety, reliability, operational flexibility, efficiency, performance, and capacity
Ensure local, state, federal, and Targa policies and regulations are adhered to.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
2+ years of experience in natural gas gathering, compression, processing, fractionation, project management, and/or operations
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Power BI, and Teams
Effectively interface with all levels within Targa as well as organizations outside the company
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability and willingness to travel at least 25% of the time
Regular and reliable attendance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years of experience in natural gas gathering, compression, processing, fractionation, project management, and/or operations
Experience with acid gas (carbon dioxide and/or hydrogen sulfide) handling and processing equipment
Anticipated Salary Range: $110,000-$150,000

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds
Ability to work in changing climate conditions and a plant environment
Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, hard hat, FRC)
The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
