Project Engineer, Gulf Coast Lithium Refinery

What to Expect

Tesla is looking for ahighly motivated individual to be a project engineer for at our new lithium refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas. This is a cross-functional role that requirescoordination between many different groups within and outside of Tesla.
You, as a Project Engineer, will interface withorganizations across Tesla, Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain,Production Planning, Operations, and the Executive team. You will drive thedevelopment and deployment of new manufacturing equipment and processes, theplanning and execution of new battery materials manufacturing expansion, andbuild productive relationships with external suppliers and relevantagencies.
You will support projects from concept through install,integration, ramp, and handover to production.
What You’ll Do

Work with Cell Engineering, Factory Design, Quality,Operations, and other supporting functions in order to scope and drive designsfor deployment of materials production equipment.
Determine project specifications and acquire the necessarymaterials for completion.
Develop scope and define parameters for project design andimplementation.
Define and drive tasks to be performed by thecross-functional team.
Identify creative ways to overcome obstacles and meet theschedule despite setbacks.
Drive review and selection of external equipment vendors andintegrators for delivery of selected manufacturing project scope.
Coordinate internal and external engineering findings to de-riskplant design and optimize plant operations and availability
What You’ll Bring

5-8+ years in manufacturing environment, in a mix of engineering and project roles. Experience working on the development of chemical processing, or hydrometallurgical systems is a plus.
Evidence of exceptional ability, including a strongunderstanding of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to leveragethis understanding to solve challenging technical problems.
Ability to work and communicate cross-functionally,including interfacing with suppliers and third party firms.
Proven ability to operate under pressure while managingmultiple priorities simultaneously. Must be able to work in a fast pacedenvironment, occasionally requiring extended hours.
Aptitude to learn and incorporate new technologies.
Ability to identify issues and develop corrective measuresto resolve.
Detail oriented with strong record-keeping andorganizational skills.
