Job Description - Project Engineer for Offsite Distributed Generation (DG) Projects

What you will do:


The Project Engineer for Offsite Distributed Generation (DG) Projects will be responsible for the planning, design, and development of offsite / front-of-the-meter solar and storage projects. This role requires a strong technical background in the solar industry, excellent project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.


 



  • Project Planning and Design:


    • Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to determine project viability and due diligence.

    • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and risk assessments.

    • Design solar and storage systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.


  • Project Management:


    • Oversee the development of offsite projects from origination to construction handover.

    • Manage the execution of all necessary engineering or development deliverables for offsite projects.

    • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, utilities, and other stakeholders to ensure timely completion.

    • Effectively drive offsite projects to fulfillment of the handover checklist and NTP.


  • Technical Support:


    • Provide technical expertise and support to the project team and other departments across the project lifecycle and operation.

    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during project development.

    • Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to incorporate best practices into projects.


  • Documentation and Reporting:


    • Maintain accurate project documentation, including design specifications, progress reports.

    • Prepare and present project status reports to management, AHJ or landlords.


  • Collaboration and Communication:


    • Work closely with internal teams (Engineering, Development, Construction, and Asset Management) to ensure project alignment with company goals.

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.

    • Foster a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement within the project team.

What are we looking for



  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy industry, with at least 3 years in the solar industry.

  • Strong knowledge of solar PV system design, energy storage solutions, and grid integration.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to think strategically and solve complex technical problems.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds

  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form

  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary

Salary hiring range: 97,440-121,800


Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry and are one part of many compensation, benefits, and other reward opportunities we provide. Individual pay rate decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
