About the Role:
We are seeking a Project Executive to lead large-scale, technically complex construction projects in the science and technology market, including life sciences, R&D labs, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical facilities. This senior leadership role is responsible for executive oversight of multiple projects, client engagement, team development, and operational excellence. You’ll play a strategic role in advancing XL Construction’s presence in the science sector while ensuring high-quality delivery, safety, and customer satisfaction across your project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide executive oversight for life science and advanced technology projects, including ground-up construction, tenant improvements, and lab retrofits
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships across biotech, pharma, R&D, and healthcare-related sectors
- Partner with estimating, preconstruction, and operations to develop project execution strategies and secure successful delivery
- Guide and mentor Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and project engineers across multiple teams
- Monitor project health—financial performance, schedule adherence, quality, and risk
- Collaborate with field and safety leadership to ensure consistent execution across job sites
- Represent XL in executive meetings, proposals, and key project milestones
- Work cross-functionally to support staffing plans, team development, and strategic planning in the science market
Qualifications:
- 12+ years of construction experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity
- Demonstrated success managing science market projects valued at $50M+
- Expertise in clean room environments, GMP compliance, utility coordination, and MEP-intensive scopes
- Strong business acumen, including financial management, forecasting, and client negotiation
- Proficiency in Procore, scheduling tools (e.g., P6 or MS Project), and construction budgeting platforms
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $245,000 – $275,000 annually (in compliance with California pay transparency laws)
- Eligible for executive performance-based bonus
