Job Description


Join the Expanded Core Facility team as a Project Manager at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory! The ECF team is seeking a highly motivated professional to support the Spent Fuel Handling Recapitalization Project (SFHP). SFHP is a once in a lifetime opportunity to recapitalize the aging infrastructure within the Expended Core Facility and support the refueling operations in the US Navy’s nuclear fleet.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Managing the M290 Spent Fuel Handling Equipment installation in the newly constructed Naval Spent Fuel Handling (NSFH) Facility, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, performance measurement, and risk and opportunity management.
Installation of over 17 major equipment assemblies and minor support equipment.
Coordinating and communicating with key stakeholders including the NSFH Facility Construction Management subcontractor (Jacobs), Naval Reactors (NR), compliance organizations, engineering, and the Program subcontractor (BWSR).
Ensuring the execution of tasks needed to meet project objectives.



Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill


Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; orMaster's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills


Experience with managing fuel handling equipment installation tasks, coordinating overlapping operations, and/or construction projects.
Experience with developing and managing large project schedules and budgets.
Cost estimating and cost evaluating experience.
Working knowledge of project management applications/programs such as P6, EVMS etc.
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills to include presenting to senior management
Experience with Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program requirements.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft suite applications.
Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation behaviors.
Proven ability to work with medium to large cross functional teams.

Pay Range


$101,600 - $158,800 annually


The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A.
