About Your Role


The Project Manager supports the District Facilities Planning & Development department by managing multiple educational facility construction and renovation projects through all phases of project delivery. This role serves as the owner’s representative and works closely with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, college administrators, and District stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with District standards and regulatory requirements.



Education Requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with a major in 

    •  Architecture

    • Construction Management

    • Engineering

    • Urban Planning

    • Or a related field




Or



  • Four (4) years of full-time, paid, professional-level experience in planning facilities or managing the construction of educational, governmental, or commercial building projects.



  • Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute, successful completion of a recognized college-level project management curriculum, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification



Certifications Requirements



  • Valid Class “C” California driver’s license required


What You’ll Need to Get the Job Done



  • Five (5) years of full-time, paid, professional-level experience in planning facilities or managing the construction of educational, governmental, or commercial building projects.

  • Experience with project life cycle management and planning/construction of educational facilities is highly desirable.

  • Experience managing multiple construction and renovation projects simultaneously

  • Knowledge of facilities planning, construction management, and project delivery methods

  • Understanding of architectural and engineering design principles

  • Experience with budget planning, scheduling, and construction documentation

  • Knowledge of applicable state and local building codes and regulations

  • Ability to manage project risks, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder expectations

  • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and communication skills

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and technical documents

  • Proficiency using project management software and computer applications related to facilities planning and development

  • Ability to travel to project sites and meetings as required



What You’ll Do



  • Successfully manage and execute 15–25 projects simultaneously ranging from approximately $100K to $3M in construction value and complexity

  • Support District Facilities Planning & Development department projects

  • Assist college administrators with development of building, renovation, and construction plans

  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, inspectors, and District personnel

  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical specifications

  • Implement budget control procedures throughout design and construction phases

  • Prepare project applications and supporting documentation for governing agency review and approval

  • Coordinate projects with maintenance programs, equipment needs, inspections, and regulatory agencies

  • Maintain communication with college administration regarding project operations, schedules, and concerns

  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans

  • Monitor construction document status, submittals, and as-built drawing preparation

  • Review requests for clarification and assist with interpretation of construction documents

  • Assist in review of contractor schedules, project progress, and payment requests

  • Process and negotiate change orders and assist in resolution of construction-related disputes

  • Coordinate project closeout and move-in activities

  • Support fiscal services with Capital Outlay Fund reconciliation and reimbursement documentation

  • Advise architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors regarding District standards, policies, and requirements

  • Perform related duties as assigned

Salary Requirements



  • $167,000.00 - $177,000.00 annually



A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management’s discretion.
