Air Products does a lot! Not only do we own and operate a diverse portfolio of gas plants, develop innovative technology, applications, and equipment solutions serving over 30 different industries, but we also internally perform the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) of our own plants within our Americas Project Delivery Organization. We are seeking Project Managers to join our team and lead all aspects of the execution of the EPCM of our plants. This role may be based out of our Allentown, PA or Houston, TX locations and will require ~25% domestic and global travel. Possible projects may involve the following technologies: gasification, traditional/gray hydrogen (H2), blue H2, green H2, CO2/carbon capture, ammonia (NH3), NH3 cracking, cryogenic air separation (ASU), and renewable wind, solar, and/or hydroelectric power. This team coordinates all phases of projects including proposals, engineering, procurement, construction, and
commissioning/start-up. Projects range in size from $150MM to $7BN+ and may be located anywhere within North America. Complexity varies greatly and is derived from the number of external organizations engaged, the use of multiple execution strategies, construction in difficult
geographies/locations,
and the project's size relative to the core execution capability that the company has executed previously. You will have significant interaction with JV’s, strategic partners, EPCs, and suppliers to ensure effective coordination across all involved to ensure delivery on project commitments and interface extensively with the customer on engineering in addition to the technical matters. Projects are executed using global capabilities, necessitating a strong cross-cultural proficiency. Key responsibilities include:
Strategic and tactical matters associated with project execution which commence during the bid development phase and continue through start-up and commissioning. During bid development: establish strategies for execution, procurement, construction, and start-up; define the project scope and budget of Air Products’ share of the project; and review and assess any JV, strategic partners’ or other third parties’ scope and costs to ensure alignment. The project scope includes engineering, design, equipment procurement, construction contracting, construction management, plant commissioning and start-up, environmental permitting, etc. Oversight and direction of all project execution activities, including overall cost, schedule, and plant performance. Overall management of all aspects affiliated to the project performed by Air Products, including work done within Global Engineering and Manufacturing (CryoDesign, Machinery, Electrical, Civil/Structural) and supporting organizations such as Procurement, Real Estate, Law, Tax, Energy, Public Affairs and Accounting. Develop and lead a hard-working, passionate project team that includes the core Air Products’ project members, other Air Products functions, external partners, vendors, equipment vendors, and possibly, customer representatives. Review of unique execution strategies and decision-making processes to address these situations. Lead the internal and/or external problem-solving vital to arrive at appropriate decisions. Act as the single technical and project contact with the customer(s) from project development through project execution on engineering and technical issues. Be a member of the AP “BUILD” team working with the customers throughout the term of the project. Maintain a safe work environment and support corporate and organizational safety goals in the office, suppliers, modular fabrication, and field sites. Ensure Risk Management procedures are followed, and any issues resolved. Required skills and abilities:
Rounded experience in handling technical and commercial issues arising during execution. Ability to articulate / report issues and challenges as well as proposed mitigation and resolutions to AP Leadership with a proactive attitude. Lead change management to identify issues early and forecast cost and schedule at completion for timely mitigation measures. Minimum Education and Licensing Requirements:
BS Degree in Engineering preferred.
