Summary Description
Engineering position primarily providing direct office/field support of our engineering, testing technicians, and substation technicians on assigned projects. Abilities required include the ability to perform power system design, arc flash and power system studies, electrical power apparatus testing, training, estimating, and operations/ project support for industrial, commercial, and utility electrical testing and upgrade projects in support of EnerG Test and The Tri-M Group.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential:
- Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M and EnerG Test safety policies and procedures.
- Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M and Ener G Test employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company.
- Effectively manages the requisition, storage and safeguarding all equipment, tools and vehicles.
- Obtains material quotes from vendors.
- Works with EnerG Test team to establish material cost projections, scope of work, project estimate and project schedule.
- Ensures safety documents such as confined space, excavation, SOP, equipment inspections, scaffold inspections, crane lift and roof permits are created or in place prior to start of work.
- Effectively manages requisition, storage and safeguarding of materials.
- Assists management with jobsite labor and scheduling.
- Effectively manages project administrative tasks.
- Assist with scheduling and determining rental equipment for projects.
- Assists management with evaluating personnel in order to maximize career development for employees including completion and delivery of a timely and accurate performance evaluation.
- Assists with and holds accountable subcontractors and outside services.
- Assists with the project close out process.
- Assists with completing and providing project turnover documents to field personnel.
- Assists with executing regularly scheduled field work as needed.
- Responds to emergency service requests outside of regular duty hours.
Job Requirements
Skills/Education:
- High school education or equivalency; post high school education desirable but not required.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience at Foreperson level.
- Knowledge of low, medium and high voltage electrical equipment with an understanding of how it works together.
- Knowledge and understanding of NETA standards preferred or willingness to learn.
- Ability to read, understand and effectively apply construction drawings, specifications and electrical schematics.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage people in a professional, constructive manner.
- Ability to organize and administer multiple job functions with good attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic level computer literacy including word processing, working with spreadsheets, processing emails and data entry.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical trade and applicable building and electrical codes.
- Knowledge of and ability to deal with other construction trades.
- Must be confident, decisive, self-motivated.
- Must have reliable personal transportation to and from the assigned work location/office.
- Ability to travel to jobsites within the United States, including overnight, as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Working 40 hours/week, scheduled in 8 to 10 hour shifts.
- Standing and climbing 4 to 6 hours/day.
- Kneeling, lifting, reaching above shoulders, and bending 4 to 5 hours/day.
- Twisting (180° ) and walking 2 to 3 hours/day.
- Squatting and sitting 1 to 2 hours/day.
- Lifting weights of 0 to 75 lbs. at the following frequencies: continuous lifting of 10 to 35 lbs.; frequent lifting of 35 to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting of 50 to 75 lbs.; sizes & shapes of objects vary from concrete blocks to cylinders to 10’ lengths of metallic conduit and 20' lengths of PVC conduit; average carry requirements, 60 lbs. for 40'
- Ability to lift from floor to above shoulder.
- Repetitive use of hands includes: continuous grasping up to 50 lbs.; frequent pushing and pulling of 50 to 75 lbs.; and fine motor coordination for receptacle installation and wire terminations.
- Repetitive use of feet is required for operating heavy equipment, conduit benders and vertical climbing.
- Vision adequate for blueprint reading and color coding for wire identification.
- Balance adequate for continuous climbing of ladders, scaffolds, and lifts.
- Environmental factors include working in: temperature extremes of 0° F to 100° F; up to 8 hours inside or outside; atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, and odors within the Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL).
- Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and potentially explosive hazards.
- Personal protective equipment includes use of hard hat, safety glasses, protected-toe boots, and appropriate gloves for the task. Equipment on an "as needed" basis may include fall protection, dust mask, respirator, hearing protection, arc flash protective gear, and dielectrically insulated gloves and/or sleeves.
