Job Title: Project Surveyor


Salary: Competitive compensation package based on experience.


Job Summary:
The Construction Project Surveyor is responsible for conducting precise land and site surveys to support the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role ensures accurate measurements, boundary definitions, and data collection to guide construction activities and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities:


Surveying & Data Collection



  • Conduct detailed topographic and boundary surveys of project sites.

  • Use GPS, total stations, and other advanced equipment to collect field data.

  • Perform construction staking and layout for excavation, piping, and structural components.


Mapping & Documentation



  • Prepare and maintain accurate maps, plats, and legal descriptions.

  • Draft survey reports and cut sheets for field crews.

  • Reduce field data to coordinate geometry and interpret design plans for staking.


Analysis & Coordination



  • Analyze title reports, deeds, and legal descriptions.

  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and design teams to ensure survey accuracy.

  • Assist in boundary analysis and easement identification.


Compliance & Quality Control



  • Ensure all survey work complies with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Maintain survey standards, consistent file naming, and drawing formats.

  • Review all deliverables for completeness and accuracy.


Qualifications:



  • 3–7 years of experience in construction surveying, preferably in water/wastewater infrastructure.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and other survey software.

  • Strong understanding of construction staking, tolerances, and field-to-office data workflows.

  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work outdoors in various conditions and travel to project sites.


Preferred Skills:



  • Experience with ALTA surveys, record boundary maps, and legal plat preparation.

  • Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment plant layouts and utility coordination.

  • Knowledge of regulatory standards for public infrastructure projects


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

  • Must be able to move freely about a construction site with uneven terrain, including climbing ladders and stair towers, working on wet surfaces, and navigating slopes.

  • Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
