Proof Press Operator

JOB SUMMARY 

Individual will operate the gravure proof press to create strike offs for Studio and manufacturing. In addition, they will operate the off-line embosser and help in the hand screen department as needed. The person in this position works closely with the product development team to gain efficiencies in our commercial/residential new product development and manufacturing processes. 

PRIMARY DUTIES

• Operating Proof Press
  • Mounting/dismounting of print sleeves, loading/unloading print cylinders into machine, adjusting color trials, and clean-ups. 
  • Keep good records/drawdowns/sample retains, and various other duties directly dealing with the machine. 
  • Follow standard operating procedure for the press.
  • Follow standard operating procedure for adjusting ink on press.
  • Work closely with the Studio to achieve desired results.
  • Understand deadlines related to product development timelines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Keep area clean and maintained daily.
  • Work overtime as needed.
• Operating Off-Line Embosser
  • Follow standard operating procedure for the embosser
  • Load/unload emboss rollers into machine and emboss strike offs. 
  • Keep good records/sample retains, and other various duties that directly deal with the machine. 
  • Help to manage daily strike offs with coordination through off-line embosser or press, depending on current departmental needs
• Handscreen department
  • Assist color mixers
  • Learn the operation and assist when needed. 
• Other duties as assigned by management  

Requirements

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma, GED
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• 2+ years of industry experience preferred
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to distinguish between colors
• Forklift experience
• Must be mechanically inclined

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  

• Must be able to stand, stoop, squat, kneel, bend, pivot/twist, balance, and climb.
• Must be able to lift at least 60 lbs. floor to waist FREQUENT, lift at least 15lbs. knuckle to shoulder OCCASIONAL, carry at least 60 lbs. FREQUENT, and push and pull at least 90 lbs. of force OCCASIONAL.
• Must pass a physical demands test

MENTAL/VISUAL DEMANDS 

You must be able to read text that is close and at a distance with or without correction. In addition, you must be able to perform manual tasks, hear, sit, reach, lift, and interact with others 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

Work activities occur in an inside workspace where extreme heat and cold may occur. There are fans for ventilation. Work activities may encounter dust and fumes.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION 

Fork truck certification required

You must demonstrate the following sensory requirements in order to perform manual tasks: color discrimination, depth perception, near vision, field vision, temperature discrimination, tactile discrimination, and talking/interacting with others. Must pass a color hue test
