Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Technician – Painter will be to maintain SSBCC buildings and equipment to the highest possible standard of excellence. 

Summary of Essential Job Functions

• Under general supervision provide necessary skills to protect exterior and interior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and structures throughout the Shocco Springs facility.  
• Assist with the maintenance and facility repairs as assigned.
• Perform assigned preventative maintenance tasks as outlined in the Preventative Maintenance Manual.
• In conjunction with the Properties Director, assist in maintaining an organized and adequate inventory of maintenance related items needed to perform assigned duties, i.e., electrical items, plumbing items, paint & paint supplies, drywall supplies, filters, etc.
• Promote and ensure a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Accept miscellaneous assignments as agreed upon with the supervisor.

Life and Job Related

• Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in painting and drywall trade.
• Ability to properly apply paints and hang, finish, and repair drywall to include:
• Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or other filler.
• Tape, float, and texture walls and ceilings.
• Paint surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers, and apply paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.
• Stain, seal, and varnish wood surfaces.
• Erect scaffolding or set up ladder to perform tasks above ground level.
• Graffiti removal from the interior and exterior of buildings.
• High school graduate or equivalent required- further study in maintenance-related area helpful.
• Ability to communicate (auditory, verbal and written) adeptly with guests, program personnel and employees.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and details and perform assigned duties in a pleasant and competent manner. 

Physical

• Frequent walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Ability to operate hand and power tools and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work outside and inside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding; and around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, excessive noises, fumes, and toxic chemicals.
• Ability to drive company vehicles.
• Ability to abstain from use of alcoholic beverages, and controlled substances.
