Property Maintenance Inspector

DEPARTMENT: Building & Public Property

JOB TITLE: Property Maintenance Inspector 

HOURS:  Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

SALARY: Hourly Wage: $24.02 this position is a member of the IUOE local #150

QUALIFICATIONS: 

· One (1) year of practical construction/building inspection experience; working knowledge of City building /property maintenance codes, ICC Codes, National Electric Code & State Plumbing Code, & building construction principles, City geography, familiar with Microsoft Suite; valid driver’s license. 

· Ability to enforce all codes, respond to inquiries from general public, detect violations/deviations from approved plans in performance of field inspections, write concise narrative reports for correction of violation observed on job site. 

· Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, 

· Remain current on all pertinent amendments to the law, 

· Establish working relationships with departmental employees, contractors, developers, property owners, and the general public

REQUIREMENTS: 

· Applicants are required to possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), experience in property maintenance, zoning codes or law enforcement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience but not required. 

· Applicant must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Applicant must have knowledge of general office procedures and practices. 

· Applicant must also maintain satisfactory working relationship with other employees and the general public and any other duties and projects as assigned.

· Successful candidates must complete and pass a background check, a pre-employment physical and a drug screen.
