As a Propulsion Engineer \u2013 Level 1 or Level 2 located in Promontory, UT, you\u2019ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. \n\nThe Propulsion Engineer is responsible for designing solid rocket motor internal insulators for a variety of government and commercial programs. This individual will use their engineering knowledge and insulation design processes to develop design solutions that meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements. \n\nThis position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.\n\nJob responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:\n\n * Design and assess internal insulation systems that thermally protect solid fuel rocket propulsion systems and related components\n\n * Provide accurate, on-time 3D models and specifications for next generation internal insulation designs\n\n * Participate in engineering teams associated with the design, test, and production of rocket motor internal insulators\n\n * Interact with development teams (including specialists in Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, Thermal, Structural, Materials, and Test) to certify design solutions that meet all requirements (technical, cost, schedule)\n\n * Engage with multi-discipline team and functions to improve internal insulation design process and tools via incorporation of test data and new innovative analysis and predictive and uncertainty quantification techniques\n\n * Develop and present documentation for project related briefings including design reviews to be given to internal and external customers\n\n * Perform problem solving/anomaly resolution and conduct special studies\n\n * Collect and evaluate post fire insulation performance data from full scale rocket motor tests\n\n * Other duties as assigned\n\n\n\n\nWhy you? You\u2019re the candidate we\u2019re searching for if you are ready to achieve the impossible alongside like-minded innovators.\n\nThis position can be filled at either a Level 1 or Level 2.\n\nBasic Qualifications for Level 1:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree in classical Engineering with 0 years of professional experience. \n\n * Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance\n\n * Previous internal insulation design, fabrication, inspection experience, rocket motor design, or aerospace experience\n\n * Willingness to learn: Chemical basics of rubber and polymer insulations and adhesives\n\n * U.S. Citizenship\n\n * Ability to travel: Travel expectation of 10%\n\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications for Level 2:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree in classical Engineering with 2 years of professional experience \u2013 OR \u2013 Master\u2019s degree with 0 years of professional experience. \n\n * Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance\n\n * Previous internal insulation design, fabrication, inspection experience, rocket motor design, or aerospace experience\n\n * Willingness to learn: Chemical basics of rubber and polymer insulations and adhesives\n\n * U.S. Citizenship\n\n * Ability to travel: Travel expectation of 10%\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications: \n\n * NX modeling and drawing experience\n\n * Understanding of manufacturing and inspection processes\n\n * Previous experience at Northrop Grumman\n\n\n\n\nCurious about all the exciting developments with the Northrop Grumman Space Sector? For more information on our Total Rewards package, please visit our Total Rewards site.\n\nNorthrop Grumman Total Rewards\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $65,800.00 - $98,800.00\n\nSecondary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
