Job Description - Protocol Specialist

JP Logistics & Consulting, LLC (JPLC) is looking for a full-time Protocol Specialist to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG).





Salary: $28.20 per hour 





Start Date: August 6, 2026





Place of Performance: Elizabeth City, NC





Hours of Operation: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, five days per week, Monday through Friday, except observed Federal holidays.





Duties and Responsibilities:


The employee will use approved plans to complete the tasks outlined for this effort, ensuring the desired quality of service. These tasks may not cover everything required, but will serve as a guide. Additionally, the Protocol Specialist may occasionally need to work outside of normal business hours, with the schedule being adjusted accordingly. Additional applicable responsibilities may be assigned as needed.


 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Duties include, but are not limited to:



  • ALC tours:

  • Organizing and coordinating base-wide tours, including itineraries and transportation, for distinguished visits (i.e., Congressional staff, USCG Flag Officers, DHS Staff, other governmental agencies, etc.).

  • Conduct weekly tours (or when scheduled) for newly hired employees, visitors, and others as directed by the Command.

  • Leading specialized tours of ALC for visiting groups (i.e., civic organizations, government representatives, schools, and other designated groups).

  • Guest Escort and Itineraries:

  • Greeting arriving aircraft.

  • Arranging transportation for visitors.

  • Escorting guests throughout the base complex.

  • Managing and coordinating visitor itineraries.

  • Command Briefings, Meetings, and Conference Rooms:


o Setting up and operating audio/visual equipment for meetings.


o Managing and coordinating the schedule for the Commanding Officer’s Conference Rooms, including operating equipment, updating metric boards, and handling related tasks.


o Attending designated meetings as directed by the CG-AIR Command, recording minutes, and publishing them.


o Maintaining and updating weekly briefing materials.


o Keeping the Command Brief (ALC101) current and accurate.


o Regularly attend meetings as required.



  • Ceremonies, Social Functions, and Events at CG-AIR (or other USCG domains as needed)


o Planning and managing ceremonies, including retirements, promotions, awards, and other events. This includes handling invitations, scripts, speeches, and programs as needed.


o Providing support on protocol matters, particularly with invitations, scripts, and programs.


o Organizing and assisting in hosting social functions for the Wardroom (Officers).


o Coordinating the recognition program for Enlisted Person of the Quarter, working with USCG Public Affairs, and local media.



  • Assisting the CG-AIR Commanding Officer’s Secretary.

  • Assisting with other ALC and Command Administrative duties.


 


Qualifications:



  • Obtain the Military/DoW Protocol Specialist certification within twelve (12) months of hire. Proof of certification must be submitted upon completion.

  • Two (2) years’ experience in protocol and event planning. This includes applying protocol and etiquette to organize events, coordinate ceremonies, and manage receptions, while considering the status of dignitaries, military and civilian representatives, and high-ranking officials.


 


Requirements:



  • Be a citizen of the U.S.

  • Possess the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Possess knowledge and ability to perform simple arithmetic.

  • Possess knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Possess excellent ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

  • Possess the ability to work with minimal Government oversight.
