Title: Provisionally Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician

Reporting Relationship: Behavioral Health Clinical Manager

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Summary/Objective

The Project of the Quad Cities (TPQC) is a medical and social service non-profit provider with a focus on HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, STD, LGBTQ+ behavioral health, primary and specialty care. Under the direct supervision of a Licensed Mental Health Clinician, the Provisionally Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician provides mental health assessments, interventions, and consultations for individuals and groups with mental health and substance use disorders and develops treatment plans, coordinates modalities, and ensures adherence to treatment protocols for assigned clients.

Essential Functions

  • Clinical Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' mental health needs, including gathering relevant information about their history, current concerns, and goals for therapy.
  • Treatment Planning: Collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique needs and goals. Utilize evidence-based practices and adapt treatment strategies as needed.
  • Individual Therapy: Provide individual therapy sessions to clients using a variety of therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based approaches.
  • Group Therapy: Facilitate group therapy sessions on topics such as coping skills, stress management, and interpersonal relationships. Create a supportive and inclusive environment for group participants.
  • Collaboration and Referral: Coordinate care with other healthcare providers, social services agencies, and community resources to ensure holistic support for clients. Make appropriate referrals for additional services, such as psychiatric evaluation or substance abuse treatment.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client sessions, assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with TPQC policies and legal requirements.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed about current trends and best practices in the field of behavioral health. Participate in ongoing training and supervision to enhance clinical skills and knowledge. Adherence to the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics
  • Team Participation: Participate in TPQC committees and events as needed. Occasionally provide in-house training or consultation for other staff.

Requirements

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Normal hours of work and days for the Project are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. May require flex hours to meet client need as necessary. Working flexibly (some days of the week from home) is available.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Both standing and sitting are required.
  • Various types of equipment/supplies are used to accomplish the job requirements and include, but are not limited to, calculators, computer keyboards, telephone, printers, scanner, copier etc.
  • The employee may be required to lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.

Required Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy or a related field
  • Currently Licensed Professional Counselor, Temporary Licensed Mental Health Professional, or MSW, MFT, and working toward independent licensure from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • 6 months experience in a mental health setting (can include internship experience)

  • Professional or lived experience with:
  •  LGBTQ+ communities
  • individuals experiencing chronic disease or traumatic diagnosis
  • people living with HIV
  • historically oppressed/marginalized groups
  • substance, alcohol and drug abuse

Salary

Compensation starts at $50,000 per year. The final offered salary is determined by years of professional and/or lived experience beyond the minimum requirement, with an additional 2.5% for those proficient in a second language relevant to the role. Our compensation structure is experience-centric and not contingent on education. As part of our commitment to pay equity, salaries are non-negotiable and include an annual cost of living increase.
