Job Description - PSR Activity Specialist

Job Description Summary:  Provides recovery-based educational groups and leisure/recreational activities to individuals impacted by a range of behavioral health issues, including substance use, trauma, and mental illness enrolled in the Community Care Program (CCP).   Relates effectively with interdepartmental personnel, clients, and community partners.    Utilizes trauma-informed and person-centered approaches to promote maximum levels of independence and autonomy for persons served.  Demonstrates effective time management and multitasking skills to deliver groups that are treatment and recovery-focused to meet individual client treatment needs.    Manages multiple, simultaneous deadlines to ensure that services are provided within established expectations.

Education:

  • An individual with a bachelor’s degree in a human services field which includes social work, psychology, nursing, education, criminal justice, recreational therapy, human development and family studies, counseling, child development, gerontology, sociology, human services, behavioral science, and rehabilitation counseling; or
  • An individual with any four- (4-) year combination of higher education and qualifying experience; or
  • An individual with any four- (4-) year degree and two (2) years of qualifying experience; or
  • An individual with an Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support degree from an approved institution; or
  • An individual with four (4) years of qualifying experience.
  • *Qualifying experience must include delivery of services to individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, or developmental disabilities.

Work Experiences:

  • Four years of qualifying experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree in a social services-related field from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a client caseload and is responsible for providing trauma-informed and person-centered recovery-based services.
  • Completes PSR admission evaluations and orientation to persons served.
  • Collaborates effectively with supervisor and members of treatment teams regarding clients in the PSR program, including progress or concerns.
  • Plans for, facilitates, and assists with the set up and cleanup of recovery-based educational groups and leisure/recreational activities to meet the needs, interests, and goals of clients served.
  • Provides recovery based, creative and fresh material to members to ensure member engagement in services.
  • Attends treatment team meetings and actively participates
  • Actively assists with special groups and program projects to ensure team feels equally supported by involvement;
  • Completes all required training and Human Resource requirements to ensure compliance with regulations and as dictated by Ozark Center.
  • Completes all required documentation within established timeframes and according to quality standards set by State and Federal regulations, CARF certifications, and program expectations. 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching above shoulder level, climbing and twisting.
  • Requires standing, sitting, or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per workday
  • Requires a typical range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, telephone, copy machine and other office equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others to exchange information.
  • Requires repetitive use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds repeatedly and set up/move tables and chairs.
  • Requires the use of a computer.
  • TB test upon hire.
