Psychiatric Consultant (PMHNP, MD, DO / Remote)
The Consulting Psychiatrist will provide consultation and support to behavioral health care managers and primary care providers in the evaluation and treatment of patients with mental health conditions. The ideal candidate will have experience in collaborative care models and a strong understanding of evidence-based practices in psychiatry.

Responsibilities:
Provide regularly scheduled (usually weekly) caseload consultation to behavioral health care managers.
Work with behavioral health care managers to oversee the status and population health of their assigned patient caseload.
Recommend any treatment adjustments through the case review process or in ad hoc consultations, including medication recommendations and other interventions, within 24 hours of consulting with a behavioral health care manager or other team members.
Advise on the treatment of patients who may need more intensive or more specialized mental health care, supporting treatment in the medical setting until patients can be engaged in specialized care as appropriate.
Be available to provide occasional ad hoc telephone consultation to primary care providers for very complex patients or challenging patient situations.
Coordinate with other psychiatric consultants for vacation coverage.
Optional Activities:
Direct evaluation of patients with significant diagnostic or therapeutic challenges who are identified in discussion with the patients behavioral health care manager and/or primary care provider.
Development and delivery of in-service training for primary care-based providers and staff regarding recognition and treatment of behavioral health conditions in primary care.
Qualifications:
NP, MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Active DEA License in New York
Board certification in psychiatry or child and adolescent psychiatry
(Preferred) Experience in collaborative care models
Strong understanding of evidence-based practices in psychiatry
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Remote work experience
