JOB OVERVIEW

• Job Title: Physician – Psychiatric Hospitalist

• Job Type: Hospital Employed

• Location: Dothan, AL

• Service Setting: Inpatient Behavioral Health

• Coverage Type: Clinical + Call (shared within 2-member team)

• Coverage Period: 14 days on / 14 days off rotation

• Clinical Shift Schedule: 14 consecutive days, followed by 14 days off

• On-Call Shift Schedule: Evenings and weekends during working period

• Call Type: Shared call

• Call Ratio: 1:2 (per 2-member team)

• Patient Demographics: Adult inpatients

• Patient Volume/Census: Behavioral Health Unit licensed for 48 beds; current capacity 28

• Admissions: Yes

• Rounding: Included

• Phone Consults: Yes

• Case Mix: Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Geriatrics, Substance Abuse, Consultation and Liaison, and Intensivist Psychiatry

FACILITY INFORMATION

• No. of Beds in Department: 48 licensed, 28 active

• Trauma Level: Level II Trauma Center

• Specialty Backup Available: Internal Medicine Hospitalists manage medical care of psychiatric inpatients

• Support Staff Available: Comprehensive Psychiatry team

• Reason for Coverage: Staff expansion

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Rate: Competitive annual compensation

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Licenses: Must hold or be eligible for Alabama medical license

• Certifications: Board Certified/Board Eligible in Psychiatry

• Experience: Precepting experience preferred

• Other Qualifications: Interest in working with students and residents encouraged

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide inpatient psychiatric care as part of a 2-member team

• Participate in shared call duties during work rotation

• Precept 3rd/4th year medical students and IM residents (optional)

• Collaborate with IM hospitalists for medical needs of psych patients

• Practice at a single location – no travel required
