Job Description - Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Adelphi is seeking Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (NP) to provide services for a facility in Irie county in NY. The ideal candidates will provide on -site psychiatric care and consultative services for individuals with developmental disabilities.

• Shift Schedule: 8 -10 hrs per week (Hours can be complete on one day or split between two days ( Wednesday and Friday).)

Requirements:

• Active NY license

• BC/BE

• DEA

• Min. of 1 year experience in serving people with developmental disabilities

• Enrolled in Medicaid/Medicare

Responsibilities:

• Provide on -site psychiatric care and consultative services for Individuals with developmental disabilities.

• Evaluate patients and advise on psychiatric treatment.

• Provide psychiatric assessments based on observations and interactions with the patients.

• Ensure the evaluations and assessments are clear and concise and convey all pertinent information.

• Participate in the development of treatment plans and case management.

• Provide electronic prescriptions for psychotropic drugs for patients as needed.

• Provide crisis intervention and prescribe pharmaceutical intervention as necessary.

• Monitoring positive and negative effects of psychotropic medications prescribed.

• Mediate admissions of patients to a psychiatric inpatient unit, if necessary.

• Review prospective patient transfer.

• Provide in -service programs to increase the knowledge of staff providing care and treatment and attend any specified training that is deemed necessary.

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
