The Mental Health Association of Monmouth County is seeking a licensed psychiatrist to join our Navigate Wellness Counseling outpatient program. This position involves providing psychiatric assessment, treatment, and follow-up care to outpatient consumers, while also offering guidance and support to our clinical staff.
The psychiatrist reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrate familiarity with psychotropic medication use, side effects, and indications for psychiatric intervention. Provide medication counseling when different medication is prescribed, whenever a significant change in dosage is made, or whenever there is a history or suspicion of alcohol or chemical abuse. Provide clients with individual written medication information fact sheets for each prescribed medication. Prescribe and order laboratory tests when indicated, and review and act if necessary. Demonstrate knowledge about the natural history of chemical dependence. Review and approve treatment plans of consumers, making appropriate additions, deletions, etc., as indicated. Implement all policies and procedures related to pharmacotherapy and medication monitoring consistent with federal, state, or provincial laws and licensure requirements. Coordinate care and provide consultation with therapists assigned to the consumer, as needed. Respond to medical emergencies on-site as needed. Provide consultation and supervision to staff regarding patients, as needed. Assist in preparing correspondence related to patients to outside agencies and sign off on those. Operate without overnight, weekend, or holiday call coverage. Manage flexible scheduling with a mixed telepsychiatry model. Competencies:

Maintain a proactive approach with a strong work ethic and a desire to participate in a collaborative environment. Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality, cost-effective healthcare. Coordinate care with other medical professionals involved in the care of patients when indicated. Prioritize ongoing training and education. Qualifications:
Hold Board Certification or be Board Eligible in Psychiatry as per the requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Possess an active and unrestricted NJ license to practice medicine. Doctorate.
