Job Title: Psychologist
Location: Correctional Facility in Chowchilla, California
Pay Rate: $138.40 to $140.40 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 6 to 9 month contract with opportunity for extension

Requirements:

• Minimum of twelve months of experience within the past three years providing direct patient care in a public or private institution
• Current clinical competencies
• Valid photo identification (Drivers License or Passport)
• California Psychologist license (hard copy required)
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver psychological services under the supervision of the Senior Psychologist and/or Chief of Mental Health
• Maintain safety, order, and conduct within the correctional environment
• Serve as clinician-of-the-day for on-call duties during scheduled workdays
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to foster strong professional relationships
• Conduct initial evaluations assessing psychological, criminal, and substance abuse histories to inform treatment
• Provide crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, and face-to-face evaluations, including in housing units and other physically demanding areas
• Diagnose and manage psychiatric disorders using clinical assessments and psychological tests
• Develop and document treatment plans, progress notes, and reports in accordance with best practices and institutional standards
• Participate in Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings and document outcomes
• Review historical documents such as medical records, court reports, and prior mental health evaluations
• Coordinate with community agencies and support services as approved by supervisors
• Educate inmates on mental health topics and assist in benefit applications, including SSI
• Support audits, provide documentation for data entry, and communicate with approved caregivers or relatives
• Represent the department in mental health-related meetings and initiatives
• Contribute to the development and implementation of rehabilitation programs for mentally ill and sex offender inmates
