Job Description Summary

This position performs a variety of confidential office duties requiring special terminology and considerable exercise of independent judgment.

The ideal candidate for the Public Health Office Technician III role is a dependable, client‑focused professional who excels in a busy clinical setting and takes pride in supporting essential community health services. They maintain a calm, welcoming, and respectful presence while assisting clients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. This candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and skilled at managing front desk responsibilities such as scheduling appointments, checking clients in and out, verifying eligibility, processing forms, updating records, and responding to questions with clarity and compassion.

Because this role supports multiple Public Health programs, the ideal candidate is eager to learn and develop a working understanding of all services offered by the department. This includes Family Planning, STI Services, Immunizations, Tuberculosis (TB) Program, Women’s Wellness Connection, WISEWOMAN, Nurse-Family Partnership, HCP (Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs), and other community health and education programs. They demonstrate the ability to correctly route clients, provide accurate program information, and collaborate effectively with clinical and program staff.

This position requires working two days per week at the Fort Lupton clinic and three days per week at the Greeley clinic. The ideal candidate is flexible, reliable, and comfortable adapting to two work environments while maintaining consistent, high‑quality customer service. They understand the importance of confidentiality, especially when handling sensitive health information, and they approach their work with professionalism, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting the health and well‑being of the community.

Job Description

Office Operations - 95%

  • Perform complex duties; type documents, correspondence, reports, case file cards utilizing technical terminology and composition skills requiring accuracy and completeness; coordinate plans and project activities.
  • Transcribe and compose a variety of confidential documents and correspondence.
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and conferences; gather related documentation for distribution at meetings; take and transcribe minutes and notes at hearings, meetings and conferences as required, at times requiring use of technical terminology.
  • May act as liaison for department with other County offices, agencies, and the public. Establish and maintain filing systems, pulling files, updating, and replacing them as needed.
  • Keep informed of new laws and ordinances; answer inquiries from departments and the public regarding resolutions, community projects, and special projects, and special programs requiring considerable exercise of independent judgement.
  • Assist lower-level personnel in performing and coordinating their work as required; train new staff members; review completed work and recommend changes to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Operate a variety of office equipment including computer terminal and/or personal computer; able to operate variety of software programs such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other process-specific programs. Type and transcribe dictation using transcribing equipment; transcribe medical reports, legal orders, opinions, and letters; attends meetings and records minutes or notes.
  • Perform moderately complex accounting work; receive and verify information from various sources and enters data into ledgers and other records. Prepare statistical reports and produce financial information as directed.
  • Professionally interact with peers and the public in person-to-person setting, via telephone, and all electronic methods.
  • Communicate current and anticipated problems to superior.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, professionals, agencies, and the public.


Division Support - 5%

  • Assist supervisor in the division with carrying out delegated responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

Bilingual Required: Not required but strongly preferred.

Required Education

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent with coursework in general office and accounting procedures, business practices, and technical terminology as it relates to the position.


Experience Qualifications

  • 3 years experience in an increasingly responsible position in an office setting.


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Candidate must pass criminal background check prior to employment start date. (Required)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Candidate must have a valid Driver’s License and Liability Insurance upon hire.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing the screening in accordance with Weld County policy.(Required)


This position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay.
