Description

The Public Health Technician / Epidemiologist will provide epidemiological and public health expertise at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The position supports operational health surveillance, research studies, and data-driven analyses affecting Air Force personnel readiness, human performance, and health outcomes. Responsibilities include designing and conducting epidemiologic studies; analyzing health surveillance, medical, personnel, and operational datasets; developing reports, technical papers, presentations, and scientific products; supporting research protocols and investigations; collecting and managing data from multiple systems; collaborating with military, civilian, and academic stakeholders; and assisting with dissemination of research findings through conferences, publications, and operational briefings. 


Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Community Health, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in public health, community health, aerospace medicine, healthcare, or a related environment.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of epidemiology experience in a healthcare or military setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, conduct, and lead epidemiological analyses using health surveillance data, medical records, and other operational datasets.
  • Experience developing, administering, and analyzing surveys and questionnaires for research, occupational health, or public health initiatives.
  • Proficiency with or ability to rapidly learn analytical tools such as Tableau, Python, R, SAS Viya, Qualtrics, or similar platforms.
  • Strong technical writing, literature review, presentation, and communication skills with experience preparing reports, white papers, publications, manuscripts, and briefings.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, professional judgment, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to obtain required system access and meet applicable position-of-trust and security requirements for work on U.S. Government systems and facilities. Work is performed onsite at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense organizations.
  • Experience working within military medical research, aerospace medicine, occupational health, or force health protection programs.
  • Experience conducting operational health surveillance and readiness-related analyses.
  • Familiarity with military healthcare, personnel, and operational data systems.
  • Experience supporting scientific investigations, protocol development, and research project execution.
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, or scientific poster development.
  • Experience briefing senior leaders, researchers, and operational stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of human performance, aerospace medicine, occupational epidemiology, or readiness research.
