About the Agency

The candidate in this position communicates to understand and facilitate necessary levels to both internal and external stakeholders including taxpayers, municipalities, counties, state government, etc. The candidate will develop communication plans for both short-term and long-term goals utilizing and coordinating multiple social media accounts and other communication mechanisms to spread our message. Internally, the candidate will assist in communicating relevant information to the employees of the DOR, increasing their knowledge and understanding of the agency's policies and procedures, promoting employee engagement and other duties assigned.•Draft and produce routine agency monthly newsletter, DOR Bi-weekly, agency announcements and photos•Participate in ERC (Employee Recognition Committee)•Collaborate with PQSD/communication intern•Produce yearly agency activity report•Maintain agency website•Attends and records minutes for Senior Staff meetings•Manage DOR emergency line for updates•Collaborate with HR and PQSD with recruitment efforts including job fairsExternally, the successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination and administration of a public awareness program by preparing press releases with content contributors, assisting in the building of a brand for the DOR on various social media accounts, and monitoring the media coverage of the Mississippi Department of Revenue.•Maintain/monitor social media applications (Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), etc.•Acts as the agency liaison for the newspaper, radio, television, and any internet base media which may include interviews•Produce educational material for the general public•Participate in NABCA Communication Committee•Attend legislative meetingsBenefits Offered: Retirement Plan, Deferred Compensation Plan, Group Health Insurance, Paid Holidays, Paid Vacation and Sick Time.

Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years of experience.Agency preferred qualifications: a Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years of experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a degree in Communications, Marketing, English, or a related field.
