Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) Supervisor

Valencia Regional Emergency Communications Center (VRECC) is seeking a dedicated and experienced PST Supervisor to lead and support our team of public safety telecommunicators. In this critical role, you’ll ensure the effective coordination of emergency responses and play a key role in maintaining community safety.

What You’ll Do

• Supervise the daily operations of our 9-1-1 communications center.


• Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for telecommunicators.


• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and dispatch protocols.


• Coordinate multi-agency emergency response efforts.


• Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with vendors or technical support.


• Maintain scheduling and staffing for assigned shifts.


• Prepare reports and maintain accurate records.


• Activate emergency alert systems and assist in preparedness planning.

What We’re Looking For

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of 9-1-1 systems, radio operations, and emergency response procedures.


• Familiarity with fire, EMS, and law enforcement communications practices.


• Excellent leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.


• Proficiency in computer systems, multitasking, and managing in high-pressure situations.

Minimum Requirements

• Must pass a national fingerprint-based criminal background check.


• Valid New Mexico driver’s license (or ability to obtain).


• Availability for shift work, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins.


• Must pass the CritiCall assessment.


• Certification or eligibility within one year for:

  • NCIC/NMLETS certification
  
  
  • Communications Training Officer (CTO)
