Public Security Officer

What You’ll Do

• Provide a visible, reassuring presence by performing regular patrols of hospital buildings and grounds


• Identify and address safety and fire hazards to help maintain a secure environment


• De-escalate tense, dynamic, and rapidly evolving situations using professionalism and sound judgment


• Support controlled access by ensuring individuals entering the facility are properly screened


• Enforce hospital policies and procedures that help protect patients, visitors, staff, and property


• Respond to emergency situations, including fire alarms and assistance requests, working alongside police, fire, and emergency management teams


• Support safe and efficient traffic and parking operations, including monitoring parking areas and emergency access routes


• Assist visitors and staff by providing directions and general support throughout the facility


• Conduct safety checks and required inspections in compliance with state and federal regulations


• Partner with hospital leadership and the Public Safety team to support a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment


• Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED required


• Basic working knowledge of computers and common software programs


• Valid, non-restricted driver’s license required


• Ability to obtain a Kentucky handgun permit after hire


• Must successfully complete required training and maintain firearms qualification (semi-annual requalification required)


• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to respond calmly and effectively in crisis or high-stress situations


• Ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and individuals who may be distressed or disruptive


• Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to safety, service, and continuous improvement
