Salary: $15.00 - $27.00 hourly, dependent on qualifications, paid bi-weekly, plus a benefit package which includes health, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, plus employee deferred compensation plan, vacation, and holidays. The City of Valley is an equal opportunity employer.

Essential Functions
- Repair concrete pads or small asphalt irregularities on streets within the City limits.
- Mow and trim various City properties
- Apply restricted-use pesticides and fertilizer as scheduled or needed.
- Clear City streets and roads of ice and snow.
- Maintain irrigation systems on several City properties.
- Maintain trees on City properties.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment as needed.
- Participate in projects regarding the construction or maintenance of City structures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Working knowledge of concrete pad replacement. (Streets and sidewalks)
- Working knowledge of and ability to operate power tools.
- Working knowledge of and ability to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs.
Ability to:
- To work outdoors and in maintenance/garage working conditions.
- Requires working in outside and inside environments with noise and various temperatures and climatic conditions, and must be able to work under adverse weather conditions as may be necessary.
- Use chemicals and cleaning solvents to maintain and repair equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees, contractors, and the general public both orally and in writing.
- Ability to use email and other basic computer technologies.
- Ability to work a regular schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, and On-Call every 5th week and snow events as needed.
- Must be able to operate or be willing to learn to operate equipment, including but not limited to mowers, skid loaders, mini excavators, road graders, lifts, tractors, and trucks.
Training, Education, and Experience
- Graduation from an accredited high school. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
- Three (3) years of work experience in a related field. Public Works experience is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations Required
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class B CDL driver’s license and maintain insurability as determined by the City’s insurance carrier. (If no current Class B CDL license, one must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment.)
- Must possess or obtain the following pesticide applicator licenses:
- 04 Ornamental and turf pest control
- 07 right of way pest control
- 09 Public Health Pest Control
