Job Description - Purchasing Agent

Description

Position Summary

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for establishing and maintaining all Job Corps Center procurement activities including supplies and services and establishing vendor contacts in compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) guidelines and Strategix purchasing policies.

Essential Functions

  1. Makes buying decisions commensurate with assigned level of authority.
  2. Works with corporate on interpreting and implementing government procurement rules and policies.
  3. Reviews and complies with all FAR clauses related to the prime contract.
  4. Works with all departments to obtain necessary supplies and services to operate the center effectively.
  5. Prepares and maintains all documentation related to quotes, bids, and negotiation of contracts.
  6. Responsible for adhering to all company purchasing policies.
  7. Performs market research as needed.
  8. Maintains pricing data and communicates with vendors in relation to purchase orders.
  9. Maintains confidentiality of financial data.
  10. Participate in department meetings and all mandated PRH and Strategix training.
  11. Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property and adhere to safety practices.
  12. Promote a harassment-free environment.
  13. Utilize information systems and handle student data in strict adherence to Job Corps and Strategix policies to protect student’s personally identifiable information (PII) and reduce network security threats.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience Minimum

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related area and one year of work experience in purchasing/procurement, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and conflict resolution. Ability to analyze government regulations accurately. Excellent organizational skills. Information technology proficiency including MS Office.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree and experience working in government procurement.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outdoor weather conditions ranging from cool in Winter to extreme heat in the Summer and Fall months, and occasional poor air quality. The noise level can vary from moderate to loud.
