Purpose of Position:
Responsible for the timely purchase of items needed to meet production demands and maintain stock inventory levels. Involves both manual and automated purchasing via MRP system. The Purchasing Agent must maintain professional integrity and make ethical choices.
Essential Functions:
- Review MRP reports to determine material requirements and act accordingly.
- Maintain PO and part system information to ensure it is correct and up to date.
- Prepare and process PO’s for goods/services needed to meet production demands and maintain stock inventory levels.
- Maintain the organization and cleanliness level of the parts room.
- Participate as necessary in return process (e.g., contact supplier, revise PO, etc.).
- Use technical knowledge to choose suppliers and products to meet production needs.
- Resolve errors or discrepancies on purchase orders as needed.
- Approve purchases for payment.
- Analyze price proposals and other data and information to determine reasonable prices.
- Perform follow up on late delivery dates.
- Continuously perform your job safely.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Position requires regular, in-person attendance.

- Ability to work with and as part of a team including but not limited to managers, coworkers, and vendor partnerships.
- Ability to exercise good judgement in decision making, ideas and all aspects relating to the ROIG team.

Qualifications:
- Related work experience with technical purchasing is preferred.
- Familiarity with and able to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, work orders, bills of material, and safety rules/regulations.
- Familiarity and experience with MRP software is preferred.

- Ability to carry out tasks in an honest, professional, and ethical manner.
- Ability to effectively build relationships with vendors, customers, and co-workers.
- Dependable – able to accept responsibility for his/her actions.
- Analytical - must analyze options and choose suppliers with the best combination of price, quality, delivery, or service.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others (written and oral).
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment with minimal supervision required.
Physical Elements:
- Constant sitting for extended periods of time.
- Occasional pushing, lifting, and carrying objects weighing 60 pounds or less.
- Oral and written communication.
- Ability to see within normal parameters and hear within normal range.
Environmental Conditions:
- This position exists in an indoor office environment. Position is exposed to manufacturing environment that may contain loud noises on occasion.
