Job Description - Purchasing Manager

About the Role


CE3S is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead and support the company's purchasing and procurement activities. This role is responsible for managing supplier relationships, developing sourcing strategies, supporting customer needs, and helping drive cost savings and operational improvements across the business.


The ideal candidate will have purchasing or procurement experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work closely with vendors, sales, VMI, and management teams.


Key Responsibilities



  • Manage and maintain supplier relationships.

  • Identify and implement new purchasing channels and sourcing opportunities.

  • Build strong working relationships with internal departments, including VMI, Sales, and Management.

  • Lead the development and execution of purchasing plans and sourcing strategies.

  • Review industry trends, spend activity, project needs, cost savings opportunities, and resource planning requirements.

  • Maintain product details and procurement unit information in the ERP system.

  • Develop and execute cost savings strategies to support company goals.

  • Negotiate pricing agreements and blanket orders with vendors.

  • Communicate with vendors regarding backordered materials, improved pricing, and delivery timelines.

  • Monitor market trends, supplier activity, and competitive conditions.

  • Proactively resolve potential or existing purchasing issues.

  • Attend training as assigned.

  • Perform other duties as needed to support business needs.


Qualifications



  • High school diploma required.

  • Minimum of two years of related purchasing or procurement experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of electronic products is strongly preferred.

  • Experience working with an enterprise ERP system is preferred; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.

  • Understanding of forecasting and procurement functions.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Professional, clear, and effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, internal departments, and management.

This position requires strong follow-up skills, vendor communication, ERP system usage, and the ability to support both day-to-day purchasing needs and longer-term sourcing improvements.
