Our client is an established manufacturing company that supplies their technology to clients in the oil and gas, petrochemical, mining, and industrial sectors worldwide. Due to their continued growth, they require the services of a
Procurement Manager
to be based in their Houston, TX facility.
The Procurement Manager directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies in the organization. Manages coordinates and expedites flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department priorities.
Responsibilities:
Manage, coordinate and assist the Buyers. Manage procurement for valve materials, actuators and outsourcing services. Reviews and monitors MRP requirements. Proficient in the use of purchasing and purchasing related modules in Syteline. Develop procurement procedures and policies as required. Oversee procurement to ensure materials are delivered to meet planned production needs. Responsible for developing key suppliers and monitoring supplier performance. Responsible for tracking and monitoring purchase costs for materials and finish parts. Responsible for growing and developing the procurement group. Responsible for maintaining ordering parameters for all purchasing parts in the MRP system. Responsible for process improvements to increase work efficiencies. Oversee and direct purchasing agreements with key vendors. Monitor vendor quality and on time deliveries. Oversee the maintenance of our client's approved vendor list. Responsible for recruiting additional preferred supplier. Analyze procurement trends to review component: purchase lot sizes, costs, and lead times. Monitor inventory values and component inventory turns. Responsible for tracking and monitoring purchase costs Develop systems and procedures to increase work flow through department. Tasked with growing the efficiency and work skill of the procurement group.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises employees in the Purchasing Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University. Must have at least 8 years purchasing experience and at least 5 years Materials Manager experience.
