We are seeking a Procurement Specialist based at our facility north of San Antonio, Texas.
The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient procurement of raw materials and packaging materials necessary to support the organization's manufacturing operations. They are responsible for coordinating the procurement process, maintaining vendor relationships, negotiating discounts, and preparing Purchase Orders ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement. They work closely with Warehouse and Production Manager to plan and maintain adequate levels of raw material and packaging inventory to produce scheduled product runs.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Vendor Management:
Work with existing vendors and suppliers.
Identify, assess and qualify potential suppliers.
Negotiate pricing, and terms with suppliers.
Maintain relationships with existing suppliers, monitor performance, and address issues as needed.
2. Purchase Order Preparation and Processing:
Generate and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies and budget constraints.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of purchases.
3. Inventory Control:
Monitor and manage inventory levels with the Warehouse Manager to prevent overstocking or shortages.
Coordinate with relevant departments to optimize inventory turnover.
4. Cost Control:
Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost-effective procurement strategies.
Monitor expenses and track purchasing trends.
5. Communication:
Collaborate with various departments to understand their procurement needs.
Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders involved in the procurement process.
6. Data Management:
Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities.
Analyze and report on procurement data to support decision-making.
Collect and consolidate forecast data.
7. Quality Control:
Ensure purchased products and services meet quality standards.
Address quality issues with suppliers as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Experience in purchasing/supply chain management environment.
Knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and supply chain operations.
Working knowledge of computers and software. Experience and proficiency with Google Suite including Sheets (with Microsoft Office and Excel experience we will train)
Team-oriented with a focus on working in a collaborative environment.
Efficient & accurate data entry skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills (listening, questioning, conflict resolution).
Good attitude with a high level of integrity and alignment with our mission, vision, values & operating principles.
Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
Attention to detail and the ability to analyze data.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
