POSITION SUMMARY:
Quality Assurance maintains quality and compliance through setting high standards that are considered part of our core values at Fungi Perfecti, and ensures those standards are met through established procedures. The Quality unit is responsible for inspecting, testing, and/or reviewing all ingredients, finished goods, packaging, and marketing materials, along with maintaining a culture of compliance throughout the Company.
The QA Document Control Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining all quality assurance documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulatory standards, and proper document control procedures by reviewing, tracking, archiving, and updating documents throughout their lifecycle. The QA Document Control Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of company records and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
This full-time position is non-exempt and reports directly to the Sr. QA Supervisor. The work schedule is Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and work outside of normal business days and hours may be required. Work is primarily conducted onsite at our facility in Tumwater, WA. Infrequent travel may be required to other local facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives, reviews, and classifies new and revised QA documents and SOP’s.
- Maintains a centralized electronic document management system.
- Tracks document versions and change control processes.
- Issues and distributes approved documents to relevant teams and stakeholders.
- Archives and retrieves documents according to retention policies.
- Performing quality checks on documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Identifies and addresses discrepancies or errors in documentation.
- Conducts regular audits of documents and records to maintain system integrity.
- Stays updated on relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Ensures all documentation adheres to established quality standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Reports food safety or other regulatory concerns immediately.
- In conjunction with QA team, conducts trainings, audits, inspections as additional support when required.
- Regularly checks email and responds to any communication involving QA. For those affecting safety concerns, escalate and collaborate with QA Management immediately.
- Maintains security and confidentiality of information within the QA Department.
- Supports QA and food safety functions on after-hours shifts or as back-up for various roles, as required.
- Reports to work on time, participates in all plant and department training and meetings.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four (4) year degree in biology, food sciences, chemistry, microbiology, or related disciplines preferred.
- One to three (1-3) years of industry experience in food or dietary supplement industry; specifically experience with food safety, quality, or regulatory systems.
- Basic understanding of food safety and dietary supplement manufacturing regulations and quality assurance.
- A passion for food safety and working with a high performing team (Tough on standards, easy on people).
- Knowledge of DSHEA framework preferred.
- Professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Detail oriented and organized, able to work independently with minimal direction.
- Excellent computer skills required including ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office Suite
- Possess a valid driver’s license acceptable in the state of Washington.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit at desk for 6-8 hours per day.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Ability to work in extreme temperature variations when performing work on site.
- Ability to utilize the sense of sight (close vision, color vision and ability to focus); ability to listen and smell; and may be required to taste as needed.
- Ability to concentrate on a task over a period without being distracted.
- Ability to be flexible and deal with complexity. Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events. Able to prioritize multiple requests and use both inductive and deductive reasoning in meeting those requests.
- Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
- Ability to engage in both inductive and deductive reasoning.
Wage Range (DOE): $23.00 per hour - $37.00 per hour
