Job Description - QHSE Coordinator and OPEX Leader

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

    • Protects customers from quality spills by implementing quality control activities along with preventive actions.
    • Responsible for developing effective and efficient quality methods, maintaining documentation throughout the Quality processes.
    • Conduct HSE orientations and trainings to all level employees (new hires and existing as applicable, including orientations specific to each business area.
    • Develop, manage and maintain QHSE related items at all levels (emergency evacuation to corporate initiatives)
    • Helps maintain current government reporting, SWWP, TRI, Tier II, OSHA 300 log, etc.
    • Lead OPEX initiatives for the site
    • Follow and implement company Standards
    • Report KPIs to the corporate

    • Develop, apply and maintain QHSE requirements and standards.
    • Establish, document and maintain all Quality Assurance policies and procedures; including the upkeep of the Quality Manual and supporting procedures.
    • Provide technical assistance and training to Quality personnel.
    • Promote and create awareness for compliance of customer HSE requirements, regulatory and industry requirements, and internal company guidelines throughout the organization.
    • Identify, develop and communicate key EPA and/or OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
    • Identify PPE requirements across business areas and maintain inventories.
    • Take ownership of assigned production readiness activities to ensure that quality and safety awareness is inherent in process development.
    • Reviewing near misses, incidents, investigation, reporting, communication of lessons learned and supporting the follow-up.
    • Provide statistical analysis on the performance of new and existing designs and processes.
    • Perform root cause analysis on customer/field and factory failures and coordinate resolution of customer complaints.
    • Helps develop and implement statistical inspection sampling plans for incoming and outgoing products considering appropriate alpha and beta risks.
    • Develop monthly reports showing inspection and audit performance and improvement opportunities.
    • Deploy OPEX initiatives following the Company Excellence System.
    • Promote the lean manufacturing culture throughout the facility.
    • Engage and perform training to the shop floor spreading out the lean concepts.
    • Ensure the safety mentality as a top priority on site.

AUTONOMY/ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Escalates all issues impacting the timely implementation and quality of all corrective actions to upper management. 
    • Commission safety training for site personnel.

IMPACT/SCOPE:

    • Reports to managers on the performance of the safety and quality management system, any needs for safety or process improvement and escalates any customer issues requiring immediate attention.

RELATIONSHIPS:

    • Works closely with customers to capture VOC. 
    • Works with operations and engineering to capture and address safety/process/product/business gaps impacting customers and company’s bottom line.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Field of study: Technical discipline or non-technical degree with 3-5 years of relevant QHSE manufacturing base experience.
    • Green belt six sigma certification (Preferred)
    • Experience with EPA reporting requirements – Tier II, SWPP, TRI. (preferred)
    • Experience creating and maintaining manufacturing required HSE programs.
    • Experience in implementing and maintaining 5S.
    • Knowledge of root cause analysis methods and corrective and preventive action processes and tools.
    • Statistical Process Control knowledge and experience.
    • Knowledge of ISO 9000 and 9001 quality management system or equivalent.
    • Ability to conduct capability studies, Gage R&Rs, and Design of Experiments.
    • Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization.Excellent interpersonal, communication and documentation skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver results against organization goals.
    • Demonstrated ability to address and resolve complex technical issues.
    • Computer proficient; detailed and comprehensive report writing.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
