Qualitative Researcher

Job Title - UX Researcher Level IV
Location - Seattle, WA (On-site)
Duration - 9 Months contract
Pay Rate Range - $70.00 - $75.00/hr. on W2 without benefits

Summary
In this role you’ll have the opportunity to conduct design research. Research is paramount to this organization’s success - formative research is needed to identify the right latent needs or problems in the world to tackle with product solutions, iterative design research is needed to mold early product ideas into testable prototypes, and creative evaluative research is needed to improve and prepare those products for market.

Job Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with researchers, designers, PMs & engineers to identify, define and deliver meaningful products into the world
Lead various research studies throughout all the phases of the product development cycle
Translate user behaviors, problems, desires, product experiences, and business problems into clear, concise research hypotheses
Identify and strategically prioritize top research questions based on leadership and stakeholders needs. Manage, meet, and communicate expectations of project milestones and updates.
Independently execute research (from tactical to complex and ambiguous topics) across a range of different qualitative methodologies, with a focus on design research
Partner closely with Research’s methodological experts to collaboratively design and interpret research initiatives that meet the user and business needs of XFN (e.g. engineers, designers, and Product Managers).
Demonstrate concise, clear and actionable written and verbal communication, including narratives, story telling, human quotes and stories, data visualization, key takeaways, recommendations, which resonate with a range of audiences, including product team cross functional partners (engineers, designers) to executives.

Experience with storytelling to get traction with various audience
Experience with autonomy and decision making to balance demands
Strong mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.

Education/Experience:
MS degree preferred in a human behavior related field, such as human-computer interaction, psychology, sociology, communication, information science, media studies, computer science, or economics with at least 2+ years of industry experience
Relevant experience within user experience, an applied research setting and/or product research and development
Interest and experience in conducting end-to-end qualitative research, including in-depth interviews, diary studies, contextual inquiries, participatory design, concept testing, usability, card sorting, heuristic evaluations methods
Experience translating research findings into strategic, influential narratives and artifacts for a wide range of audiences (including cross-functional product teams to executives)
Experience with social media products and use cases.
