Coopers Houston is recruiting an experienced Quality & Management Systems Supervisor for a leading industrial manufacturing organization located in Humble, Texas, within the Greater Houston area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Quality Manager, Quality Systems Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, QMS Manager, Quality Engineer, or Integrated Management Systems professional with experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, metals, wire and cable, extrusion, foundry, or other heavy manufacturing environments.
The Quality & Management Systems Supervisor will lead the organization's Quality Management System (QMS), laboratory operations, ISO certifications, auditing, compliance, continuous improvement, and organizational performance programs.
The successful candidate will help ensure compliance with customer requirements, applicable regulations, international standards, and company policies while driving product quality, laboratory reliability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Quality & Management Systems Supervisor Responsibilities
Quality Management
- Develop, implement, and manage the Annual Quality Management Plan.
- Oversee quality control activities for raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Lead customer complaint investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Manage supplier quality development and supplier qualification processes.
- Ensure the accuracy and timely issuance of product quality certificates.
- Conduct process audits and quality assessments to verify compliance with customer and internal requirements.
- Establish and monitor quality performance metrics and KPIs.
Laboratory Management
- Develop and manage the Annual Laboratory Plan.
- Oversee physical, chemical, metallurgical, and analytical testing activities.
- Manage laboratory quality systems and testing programs.
- Oversee meteorology activities, including calibration, verification, and maintenance of measuring equipment.
- Ensure laboratory compliance with ISO 17025 requirements.
- Support failure analysis, technical investigations, and product quality investigations.
- Ensure laboratory testing and measurement processes are accurate, reliable, and properly documented.
Integrated Management Systems – IMS
- Design, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the organization's Integrated Management System.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international management system standards, including:
- ISO 9001 – Quality Management
- ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
- ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety
- ISO 17025 – Laboratory Management
- IATF 16949 – Automotive Quality Management
- ISO 37001 – Anti-Bribery Management
- Coordinate certification, surveillance, and re-certification audits.
- Maintain documentation and records required for management system certification.
Audits & Regulatory Compliance
- Plan, schedule, and manage internal and external audits.
- Coordinate audits conducted by customers, certification bodies, governmental agencies, and regulatory authorities.
- Manage audit findings and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor compliance with corporate policies, customer requirements, applicable regulations, and international standards.
- Track audit performance and ensure sustainable closure of nonconformities.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Lead organizational continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and structured problem-solving activities.
- Promote data-driven decision-making through statistical analysis and KPI monitoring.
- Drive process optimization and operational excellence initiatives.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma improvement programs.
- Identify opportunities to improve quality, productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
APQP / PPAP / Automotive Quality Support
- Participate in PPAP development and customer qualification processes.
- Support new product introductions and customer approvals.
- Lead or support APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and other Core Tools activities.
- Support customer-specific quality requirements and qualification processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, production, and quality teams during new product launches.
Document Control & Performance Management
- Lead the organization's document control system.
- Ensure procedures, work instructions, policies, forms, and quality documents remain current and controlled.
- Maintain Quality Management System and Integrated Management System KPIs.
- Manage and monitor the organization's Balanced Scorecard (BSC).
- Prepare management reports, performance reviews, and quality presentations.
- Provide management with actionable data and recommendations for improving organizational performance.
Quality & Management Systems Supervisor Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in one of the following or a related discipline:
- Chemical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Quality Engineering
- Materials Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Other relevant engineering or technical discipline
Professional Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Quality Management within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Experience in foundry, metal processing, wire and cable, extrusion, copper processing, or heavy manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing laboratory operations and industrial testing programs.
- Experience leading Quality Management Systems and Integrated Management Systems.
- Experience implementing and maintaining ISO certifications.
- Experience planning and conducting internal and external audits.
- Experience managing corrective and preventive actions and quality improvement programs.
