Quality Assurance Technician

Position Purpose

The Quality Assurance Technician supports the Quality Assurance function by inspecting, testing, documenting, and monitoring raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure compliance with Farmina standards and applicable food safety and regulatory requirements. This hands-on role promotes continuous improvement and a culture of food safety throughout the facility.

Requirements

Must Haves

• Associate degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or related field.


• Strong understanding of HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000 and food safety systems.


• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.


• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with attention to safety and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance or related field (or equivalent experience).


• Knowledge of food safety systems, laboratory testing and regulatory requirements.


• 1–3 years of QA, food safety or manufacturing experience; pet food industry experience preferred.


• HACCP, SQF Practitioner, or PCQI certification preferred.

Must be willing to work mandatory overtime, weekends and different shifts as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Inspect and test raw materials, in-process, and finished pet food products to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.


• Conduct audits of production, packaging, and storage areas for GMP and food safety compliance.


• Monitor and document SOP deviations and communicate findings to QA management.


• Review supplier quality documentation and participate in internal and external audits.

CAPA Management

• Investigate non-conformances, deviations, and customer complaints.


• Develop, implement, and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).


• Maintain CAPA documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain inspection reports, audit records, laboratory results, and QA logs.


• Generate QA reports and assist in updating SOPs, work instructions, and quality procedures.

Collaboration & Training

• Partner with Production, Quality Control, Laboratory, and Product Development teams.


• Train employees on QA procedures, CAPA processes, documentation, and food safety requirements.

Quality Oversight

• Support supplier quality, sanitation and hygiene programs, traceability, and recall readiness.


• Support continuous improvement initiatives and regulatory inspections.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial equipment.


• Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds.


• Flexibility to work weekends or alternate shifts when needed.
