Job Description - Quality Assurance Technician

Position Summary:

We are hiring a Quality Assurance Technician with a strong fiber-optic background to support ship repair and telecommunications projects aboard U.S. Navy vessels. This role assists with inspections, testing, documentation review, and verification of installed components to ensure compliance with customer, technical, and regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

• Perform quality checks and inspections on fiber-optic, copper, and RF cable installations.

• Support the development and review of Quality Assurance Work Procedures, Test Procedures, and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE).

• Verify compliance with Work Packages, Technical Work Documents (TWD), and customer instructions.

• Assist in gathering output information and inspection results from production teams.

• Conduct continuity, insertion loss, and certification testing using approved fiber-optic test equipment.

• Review drawings, diagrams, routing layouts, and technical documentation for accuracy and compliance.

• Document inspection findings and update quality records as required.

• Support Corrective Action and Preventative Action activities, including verification of completed work.

• Assist with internal audits and routine quality and safety surveillances.

• Ensure proper setup, use, and calibration of testing tools and equipment.

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall QA operations.


Required Qualifications:

• Experience working in ship repair, shipyard telecommunications, or similar environments aboard U.S. Navy ships.

• Strong background in fiber-optic installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and MIL-SPEC cabling requirements preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical work documents.

• Keen attention to detail and a quality-driven mindset.

• Eligibility to access U.S. Navy shipyards and facilities (DBIDS eligibility).

U.S. Citizenship required.


Education:

• High School Diploma.

• Fluency in English (verbal and written).


Salary Range:

$26.00–$38.00 per hour
