Quality Assurance/Control (2nd Shift) -Food Manufacturing ($19-$25/hr) - Rewarding Work

Position Title: Quality Assurance Assistant

Work Schedule: Typical work week is Monday-Friday, however on occasion overtime/weekend work is required during extended production runs.

Operational Shift Hours: 2nd Shift (3p to 11:30p)

Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Assistant supports a variety of routine analytical testing in finished good products, data recording, and monitoring to ensure that the food safety, GMP, and quality programs are maintained. The QA Assistant collects samples and data on set processes and ensure adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and product quality standards through visual observation.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

• Collect samples for hourly process checks throughout the production and packaging departments, including Food Safety, sanitation verification, label, case codes, product moisture, net weight, and package integrity.
• Conduct and document sensory analysis (taste, visual and olfactory) of product at various stages along the production process as well as finished product to validate the integrity and quality standards/specifications
• Communicating deviations to standards/specification or process to QA Technician.
• Make suggestions for continuous improvement projects.
• Assists with maintaining accurate and organized documentation of Food Safety activities.
• Assists QA Technician with timely communication of modifications based upon test results.
• Working with all members of staff to maintain and develop the positive and progressive food safety culture within the Company.
• Willingness to undertake any other duties, either for this department or any other department within the Company which may be requested by the Management.

Qualifications:

• Technical Knowledge of daily production operation procedures, including product specifications.
• Knowledge of GMP, SQF, FSMA, GFSI, and HACCP.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer skills with an emphasis on data entry.
• Ability to work in teams to complete needed tasks within check window times
• Ability to add, subtract and use mathematical skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Strict adherence to time management and organizational guidelines
• Must be able to support shift, weekend and holiday schedules as required

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)
• Two years in food production role (required)
• Exposure to quality related processes (preferred)
