About the Role: Our Quality Control (QC) Lab team is looking for an experienced, energetic, flexible, organized, and high performing QC Lab Associate. This associate will have primary responsibility of routine testing for product release and process monitoring in the QC lab as well as support R&D projects that partner with new product development and engineering associates to develop and optimize new test methods. Standard working hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm.
This role will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland.
Please note that evening, night and weekend shift positions are eligible for an additional $2/hour shift differential pay (in California, the shift differential pay is $2.40/hour). Medical, Dental and Vision benefits effective on Day 1 of employment!
Responsibilities: Organize and perform routine testing of QC samples and non-production (R&D support) samples using a wide variety of instrumentation such as tensile, thermal analysis, MVTR, water entry pressure, porometry, airflow, microscopy, spectroscopy, and wet chemistry Perform data collection, data entry, and data analysis Perform instrument calibrations and partner with quality associates and engineers to carry out corrective actions relevant to test equipment Troubleshoot problems and perform periodic maintenance on QC lab instrumentation Write SOPs and work instructions relevant to QC processes or instrumentation, and train other lab associates on these procedures Partner with engineers on characterization and/or validation projects Provide testing support for internal customers with characterization and/or validation projects Support and drive validation efforts for new QC lab instrumentation
Required Qualifications: Associate degree in science or engineering, OR a minimum of 5 years experience in a quality control testing lab Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills based on strong theoretical knowledge Solid computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, Teams) with the ability to learn more advanced systems Demonstrated success working autonomously as well as in a team environment Demonstrated effective communication skills, both verbal and written Demonstrated ability to follow detailed written procedures with strong attention to detail Demonstrated ability to recommend and implement changes to existing test methods and procedures through a standardized process Demonstrated ability to successfully drive projects to completion Ability to learn a variety of new tests and QC lab instrumentation Ability to multitask and set priorities
Desired Qualifications: Bachelor degree in a science or engineering field Hands-on experience working with instrumentation/techniques, such as: tensile, thermal analysis, MVTR, water entry pressure, porometry, airflow, microscopy, spectroscopy, and wet chemistry Previous experience working within quality system, as well as a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and/or Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
