Quality Control Specialist - Production

• Oversee weekly production at Skylark Meats and other processing partners as needed.
• Ensure production operations and techniques optimize yields and meet scheduling requirements.
• Assist in the implementation of new programs and products to enhance production efficiency.
• Communicate directly with supervisors, managers, and the scheduling team regarding production concerns and opportunities

• Direct and assist production in testing and measuring product yields, and tabulate data related to product quality and materials.
• Understand, evaluate, and execute testing procedures accurately, including investigating product modifications.

• Ensure food safety and monitoring programs meet corporate and regulatory standards.
• Conduct inspections to verify compliance with food laws and regulations and validate the plant’s HACCP plan.
• Maintain a working knowledge of SQF Level 2, SSOP, GMPs, and HACCP CCPs as required in a protein processing environment.

• Ensure all products meet or exceed Meyer Natural Foods’ (MNF) quality standards.
• Conduct specification audits on raw materials and packaging audits on finished goods to ensure compliance with labeling and packaging requirements.
• Monitor finished goods packaging weights daily to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize yields.
• Conduct yield tests on new raw materials and finished goods.
• Evaluate product specifications against customer requirements to ensure all standards are met.
• Monitor and inspect finished products to ensure conformance to specifications, recording results on quality control sheets or electronic QA tablets.
• Inspect returned products, determine disposition, and document findings.

• Serve as backup for daily monitoring and reporting of ground beef evaluations.
• Provide backup support for shipping and lab sample processes.
• Assist with other duties as needed

• Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required, with a preferred emphasis in food technology/science or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3-5 years of related experience in Operations or Quality Control
• 5 or more years of experience with Protein, specifically beef, pork, and chicken industry experience strongly required.

• Strong understanding of operations and quality assurance preferred.
• Analytical skills required and the ability to multi-task.
• Exceptional Attention to Detail - Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing tasks.
• Ability to follow all safety and plant protocols established.
• Frequently travel to various plants as directed by manager.
